Conversion times to AIC: Voltaic versus iMac

How does conversion by a late model iMac using Voltaic compare with the process as done by importing from the camera into iMovie?

Voltaic seems to be notably slow at the quoted 12 times longer than the actual video length for conversion to AIC.

How does Voltaic compare to iMovie for a comparable task?
