version 2.0 of VoltaicHD will support trimming and joining of clips only. The output will be limited to the formats that we currently support (i.e. all Quicktime codecs).
In versoin 2.1 of VoltaicHD we plan to introduce exporting to AVCHD. This will take your AVCHD clips, let you trim and join, and produce a final AVCHD output movie. In this case we will be preserving the original footage and just trimming and joining.
This 2.1 process will give you the best possible quality since no footage ever gets converted.
We're still a few weeks away from releasing this, but for people wanting that "best possible quality" output (like us) we think this will be a big move forward for AVCHD editing on the Mac.
Once VoltaicHD is bedded down with the new AVCHD features we will add them to FlamingoHD. FlamingoHD is where we plan to add other supporting features like Titles and Transitions.
