Hi guys
First great product!
Been using VoltaicHD for my Sony HDR-SR12E files and converting about 250 clips from a recent shoot weekend.
I noticed that it was still churning through the files after 12 hours, but when I looked at Task Manager I noticed VoltaicHD.exe*32 was capped at 25% and ffmpeg.exe*32 at 7% CPU utilisation. I assumed this may indicate that the application wasn't using all cores (I have Quad Core QX9300 laptop).
Will Shedworx be producting a 64-bit version of VoltaicHD and/or provide multi-core support which would speed up converstion time?
I've been using Adobe CS4 which is supposed to support AVCHD files natively, however in practice, After Effects CS4 often renders frames out of sequence (characterised by skipping), hence converting to AVI first using VoltaicHD. Adobe's answer is to buy CS5 as it works properly there...right! >8o)
Keep up the great work!
Kind regards
Trelawney
64bit support
Hi Trelawney,
thanks for the kind words. I'm glad Voltaic is doing the job for you with CS4. We're about to release a major upgrade to VoltaicHD on the PC which I hope you will find useful.
Re 64bit support, we won't be doing that this year as the vast majority of our sales are still to people with 32bit XP machines.
Our conversion process is restricted to using 2 cores right now, on both PC and Mac, but next year we plan to implement a multi-core approach. This approach will simply allow simultaneous conversions, according to how many core pairs you have. This won't speed up a single clip conversion, but will speed up large batches.
Regards
Justin
