Hi,
I'm trying to just view HD .mov video files shot with a Canon HF S11. When I try to add a clip into VoltaicHD I get an error message that says it can't convert it because it's an "Unsupported Video Codec." The HF S11 is listed as a supported camera, so it's really puzzling. There have been problems from the start, though. In trying to download the footage from the camera to my Sony Vaio with Windows 7-64 bit using Windows Live Movie Maker, the clips wouldn't even import. I had someone download them with a MacBook, and then I copied them onto and external HDD, where they show up as QuickTime movies. Now I'm trying to convert them to something my PC can read using VoltaicHD, but no go. I've checked with Canon to see if there are any drivers that are needed to possibly supply any missing codecs if necessary, but Canon shows none needed for Win7-64 systems. Any cliues as to how I can view these clips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Canon HFS11

Hi there,

we definitely support the HFS11 - we have one on our test bench. You need to convert the AVCHD files on the PC, not convert them to Quicktime on a Mac, then copy them.

Voltaic on the PC will convert from AVCHD to WMV (a Windows-friendly format) then should be right with Movie Maker.
