Bought FlamingoHD (wasn't really planning on, but whatever ..the package deal got me ;) and just one comment:
It's overall okay, and I like the potential. Flags , ratings, etc, would be nice, but I read its coming in a future version so ...
What bugs me atm, and what also makes it almost worthless to me, is the fact that once I do an Imovie Export (which just loads VoltaicHD), my newly converted AIC file has the new date of creation timestamp instead of the capture date which makes further management of multiple clips in IMovie almost impossible. It's sorta easier for me to just use a bigger harddrive and invest everything into IMovie from my camera ....
If that's something that eventually gets worked on, then I'll definately give it a thumbs up.
iMovie exporting
Thanks for the feedback. We will look at the iMovie export process and ensure that timestamps are preserved.
We have actually implemented that feature in VoltaicHD, where you can have the converted file get its creation date/time set to the recorded date/time from the AVCHD movie file.
We'll add this feature into the Flamingo/Voltaic interface (which is AppleScript) to make this happen.
We have started work on the new Flamingo and while it will take a few months to get version 2.0 done, it will be a huge step forward. The initial 2.0 release will be a clean-up and speed-up, then we'll move on to ratings, tagging, metadata and so on. Our focus for the first half of this year has been Voltaic 2.5 and a few other things, but the second half of the year will be all Flamingo.
