Hi,
I just bought Flamingo (and the rest of the ShedWorx tools) but Flamingo is doing something strange that is creating havoc with my workflow. I prefer to copy the AVCHD directory structure onto my hard disk and then import the videos into Flamingo. That way, when I batch import the clips into Flamingo, it doesn't copy the files to it's own library but just references them in their original location on the disk. This is exactly what I wanted. However, once you move one of these clips out of its original event and into a new event then Flamingo MOVES the video file from its original location into the Flamingo library. This is not what I expected and not very friendly behaviour. A database that contains pointers to files should no go moving those files around and thus breaking any links that other programmes may have had to the files.
Moving Files
Hi there,
I understand what you mean, and we realise that this is a problem.
We are in the early stages of a major upgrade to Flamingo which will alleviate this problem. In the next version, assets will be imported into the library via reference as they are now. When items are moved around to new projects or events, the original location of the assets will not be touched, just their membership of folders/projects will change.
Until we release Flamingo 2.0, you could try leaving the Events as-is and managing changes in the Projects area instead.

Thanks Justin,
I look forward to the upgrade. I did realise the the current version of Flamingo wasn't quite what I was looking for but I bought it on the strength of your email to me indicating that the upgrade would be free.
Cheers,
Peter
