I'm currently trying to convert the .MTS files that I recorded on my panasonic HDC-SD9 and then put the SD card into a card reader and tried to convert it through VoltaicHD for Mac. My setting for converting are as follows: 1920x1080i, 29.97fps, extract 5.1 audio, and it's being saved as a .MPEG4. I then upload it into Final Cut Express 4. Finally I try to cut the speed by 50% but then it gets all choppy and everyother frame is the same frame as two frames before it, so it's all herky-jerky. Any help?

Slo-mo and Final Cut Express

Hi there,

make sure you're converting to AIC. Final Cut doesn't like editing MPEG4. I've done this myself numerous times in Final Cut Express with Voltaic converted AIC and it works perfectly.

But I don't have that option

But I don't have that option in Voltaic, there is no AIC setting I can set it to out put the converted video as. Or is it named something else. The only format I've found works so far is DV but it doesnt seem like it's full HD quality. Help?

AIC default output

You just use the default Convert action - that goes to AIC. AIC is our default conversion option as its by far the most popular output format.

Well, I converted it

Well, I converted it exactally like you said with the default converter and then impotred it into FCE 4 and it did the same thing where it would be choppy and messed up. I tried to convert them into DV files and that worked, but it seemed like the quality isnt as great. What is also weird is that I played the same video that I converted on Quicktime and it was very smooth playback and seemed really great quality to, but as a soon as I played it in FCE 4 it had these wierd lines and as I said before messed up slow mo. Any help would be great thanks. Oh and by the way I am using a Panasonic HDC-SD9
