Hi

Is it normal that the transcoded clip is slightly darger than original MTS clip?

Basicly it doesnt bug me at all but sometimes when i have filmed something in low light situation it creates a bit more work to bring the lost light back to clip in editor. It seems that nothing else is changing in the clip. I havent yet tried if the darkening amount is always exactly same.

Darkened clips

Our conversion process does a decode of the H.264 stream according to the standard, then uses Quicktime to move the stream to an Apple codec. Both of these steps are fixed in that our decode is 'mathematically correct' and Quicktime does what it does.

We can alter the stream on the way through in any way - this is where we do 24p pulldown, titles, etc.

We can look at lightening clips, but it would be a simple manual 'exposure correction' kind of thing, which may be better off left to the editor.

Can you FTP an example of the low-light clip that you're seeing the problem with?
